Swiss cheese plant - Monstera Adansonii 

Swiss cheese plant - Monstera Adansonii is a beautiful and versatile house or patio plant with heart shaped leaves. It can be draped, hanged in a macrame hanger or trained to run up a moss pole.

It's a cousin of the well known Delicious monster -  Monstera Deliciosa, which is also sometimes called the Swiss cheese plant.  This particular Monstera  is much smaller, with leaves about the size of one’s palm.

These are tropical plants from Central and South America and that's exactly the atmosphere they create in a living space. They will make you feel like you are in a rainforest somewhere.

This plant symbolises exploration, growth and curiosity.

Needs

These plants need well composted and draining soil.

You can do cycles of watering and letting them get to a dryish point, then water properly and deep again. You can even give the leaves a watering down, simulating a good rainforest rain. They love it.

Don't let them dry out completely or for long, because the leaves will go dark at the ends.

Feed them from time to time with some worm tea or vermicompost.

Naturally, they will form one long drape. If you prune them they will divide and form a fuller base.

Light

Bright indirect light is ideal. Avoid direct sunshine.

Temperatures

Being a true tropical plant, they are sensitive to cold. If you live in a very cold area, then indoor for winter is a good idea.
