Q: What are your minimum joining criteria?
A: To be considered for inclusion on our website: - You are female. - Your business is majority female-owned. - You live in South Africa. - Your business is classified as a Small to Medium Enterprise (SME). - Your business does not fall within our “Banned Industries List”.
Q: What is on your "Banned Industries List"?
A: Businesses falling within the following industries will NOT be accepted on our site: - Pyramid Schemes - MOTO/Internet/CNP Prescription Drugs - Illegal drugs and the sales of any substances designed to cause a similar effect e.g. butyl nitrates, hallucinogens, BZP. - MOTO/Internet/CNP Tobacconists - Escort Agencies/ Massage Parlors/ Adult Content - Timeshare
- Resale of off-the-shelf retail items - Independent Financial Advisers - Key-Entry Telecom Companies (Companies who allow cardholders to key enter an account number to facilitate the billing of a long distance or local telephone call/fax call) - Other Investment Merchants e.g., merchants who sell products such as bonds and debentures giving sporting rights. - Holiday Clubs and their agents/sub agents - Bureau de Change - Commodity Investments - High Risk Security Investments such as: Binary option trading Contracts for difference (CFD) Foreign exchange (Forex) currency options trading Cryptocurrency options trading Initial coin offerings (ICOs) - Adult entertainment Industry - Gambling Industry - Money Service Bureaus - Defence - Pawn Brokers - Scrap Metal Merchants - Cryptocurrency Exchanges - Cash aggregators - Video entertainment/Rental stores - Internet Adult digital content is - Prohibited (Brand Protection) by Amex and deemed High Risk Merchant for VISA/MasterCard. - Collection Agencies / Loan Sharks – (A prohibited industry from a Card network perspective)- Unless it is already covered under the broader definition of MSB’s or cash aggregators - Commodity Investments which include natural resources such as oil, coal, gold as well as basic foods like corn, sugar, coffee etc. (Excluding CFDs) - Illegal/Brand-Damaging Products (Added to BRAM) – Program) Medical and - Dental Devices: Medical and dental devices that are counterfeit, not approved by regulatory entities, or are expired, are added to the BRAM program - TV license renewal (for the current year) Fempreneurs reserves the right to amend/add to this list as they deem appropriate. Should any of the abovementioned make it through the vetting process, Fempreneurs reserves the right to delete any Listing/Store immediately, without notice and without refund of any subscriptions having been paid.
Q: Do I need a website to join your platform?
A: Short answer – NO 😉 Our website is designed to help femmes with that exact problem – i.e. no website = no sales/awareness. Save time and money by creating a Store or Listing your business with us.
Q: What qualifies me as an SME?
A: An SME in South Africa is an enterprise with one or more of the following characteristics: - Fewer than 200 employees, - Annual turnover of less than R64 million, - Capital assets of less than R10 million, - Direct managerial involvement by owners.
Q: What is the difference between a STORE and a LISTING?
A: - STORE Create your own e-commerce store for selling products/services including optional, built-in add-ons like courier and payment gateway. - LISTING Gain awareness and more web traffic to your existing e-commerce website or services business. A maximum of 1 listing per subscription fee.
Q: Do I have to use your partner services?
A: You are not obligated to sign up with our third-party service providers, they fall part of our ecosystem of partner service providers we’ve recruited to help our Fempreneurs thrive in their businesses. Femprenuers has no involvement whatsoever in the dealings between our third-party service providers and our members.
Q: How does your pricing work?
A: Our fees are broken down into subscriptions (Listings and Stores) and commission (Stores and Coaches' Packages only). Once your free trial has expired a subscription fee will be deducted from your credit/debit card on a monthly/annual basis (as specified by you upon signup). Stores will be charged a 8% commission on all sales, and Coaches/Success Package holders will be charged a 10% commission on all sales made on the Fempreneurs platform..
Q: How will I be paid out for items bought from my store?
A: We'll release funds owing to you from all your sales PLUS SHIPPING COSTS (less our 3% commission) every Monday and Thursday, excluding holidays, to be paid directly into your bank account (details to be provided and kept up to date by you).
Q: Who handles refunds?
A: Fempreneurs will handle any refunds pertaining to subscription fees directly with the merchant (email [email protected]). Merchants will be responsible for handling refunds directly with their customers.
Q. Who handles the shipping of items sold to shoppers?
A: Merchants are responsible for all their own shipping activities directly with their customers. We have partnered with Bob Go who have a network of partner couriers at preferred rates.
NB: Each merchant is responsible for adding their unique BoB Go API code and their delivery address to their Store profiles - failure to do so will result in inaccurate rates charged to you and your customer!!
Q. What if I already use a courier & don’t want to use Bob Go??
A: Should you be using a courier already and do not need Bob Go,

accordingly.
Q: What happens at the end of my free trial?
A: At the end of your trial, you will have the opportunity to renew your subscription and you will be charged for a subscription on a monthly or annual basis (depending on the billing option you choose) unless you cancel. You can cancel at any time by emailing [email protected]
Q: How do you handle cancellations and refunds?
A: Subscription fees and packages bought directly with Fempreneurs South Africa are paid in advance. Any subscription upgrades or purchases made mid-month are charged on a pro-rata basis for the remainder of the month. Merchants will be granted refunds of subscription fees on a case-by-case basis at the sole discretion of the Fempreneurs team. Fempreneurs shall not be responsible for processing any Customer of Merchant requests for cancellations, returns, refunds and / or customer service price adjustments.
