Begonia plant varieties

We stock Begonia plant varieties. We have Angel wing begonia - Coccinea with pink heart-shaped flowers. Please check the photo gallery for images of the different varieties. Besides this we also have Star leaf begonia - Begonia Heracleifolia that carries pink flowers. Beefsteak begonia - Begonia Erythrophylla and Wax begonia - Begonia Semperflorens with its exceptional rust coloured leaves that adds very interesting colour tones.

Begonias originate from South and Central America, Africa and Southern Asia, from warmer climates, but they are grown and collected worldwide for their very interesting foliage varieties, that brings some fascinating colours and contrast around. Besides their leaves they are generous with their beautiful flowers.

These special qualities makes them really lovely to combine amongst other plants. The very rewarding textures, colours, contrasts and flowers draws the eye to your favourite plant composition.  They can be combined in their own pot or in companion with other plants with similar needs or complimenting needs.

Generally they are lower growing, approximately up to 70 cm, but there are some taller varieties, like the Angel wing begonias. So t their hey look good as ground covers in companion planting, whilst the taller varieties brings their magic at the top.

Plant care

They are generally easy and hardy plants and don't tend to be plagued by pests and diseases.

It is best to take care of Begonias, specifically according to the the special variety that you have. We will make sure to include some care instructions for the variety that you buy.

In general begonias don't like direct sunlight. Indirect, bright light or filtered light simulates their natural environment. They enjoy moist soil and don't like long dry periods, so regular watering when the top 3 cm is dry, is important. Over watering might cause fungal disease and under watering will make the leaves fall off. Good drainage is important.

As they are from tropical or sub tropical areas, they enjoy humidity.
