African flag - Chasmanthe floribunda is a striking erect cluster of leaves and flowers are perfect to bring a natural texture and definition to low to no maintenance gardens. Endemic to the Cape province in South Africa, this hardy and drought resistant plant thrives in both sun and shade. This plant is known for its adaptability to a variety of climates. You get 4 flowering size Earthling corms.

African Flag - Chasmanthe Floribunda, also known as Cobra lily, is a perennial herbaceous plant from the Iris family.

Each plant produces a rosulate of linear, sword shaped leaves with a central spike of yellow to deep orange inflorescence tubular flowers. They get to up to 1200mm high

The bright and nectar rich flowers range in colour from gold to orange to Burgundy. Attracting birds and especially sunbirds, which feeds on the nectar. Each spike contains about 20 to 40 flowers that are neatly arranged in neat rows. Flowers are 13 to 40 mm each in size.

They are good cut flowers. The plant Blooms in spring and summer in the summer hemisphere. 

African Flag - Chasmanthe Floribunda has very low water needs. However the leaves start to sprout from corms, triggered by the first autumn rains, just before winter settles in. An exciting sign that it's time to make sure the hot chocolate and firewood are ready.

Climate

Overall African Flag - Chasmanthe Floribunda is hardy and tolerates a range of conditions but prefers a warm climate. The African flag is known for its adaptability to temperature variations, enduring from -5℃  to 43℃.

Planting

Plant the corms 12 cm deep in the soil and 15 cm apart. They like well drained, sandy soil, but can grow in clay or loam (slit)

Needs

Special care points include ensuring the deciduous dormant bulbs are not waterlogged during their rest period to prevent rot. Once every week or other week watering in its growing period will give you better end results. This plant does not need care, but a little feeding  when they sprout will result in an overall healthier plant.
